Climatic controllers and Carbonic Fertilization

It is necessary the availability of a climate controller that manages the contributions based on:

Concurrent environmental conditions:

  • Radiation
  • Humidity

Correction Facility conditions:

  • windows position
  • wind speed
  • forced ventilation
  • heating system
  • artificial lighting system
  • cogeneration system, etc.

The controller has to manage the demand required by the crop (concentrations) in terms of production as a byproduct of heat generation for greenhouse heating, light absorption, power (CHP), etc.

3 Concentrations

The required demand is established by three concentrations covering three situations from low to high demand, "pure", "low" and "high".

Pure Concentration

Pure concentration level is used to meet demand by liquefied CO2 from industrial processes,

Low Concentrations

Low level is used when there is a heating or power generation and this is connected due to dioxide demand.

High Concentrations

Finally, high level is employed taking the production of CO2 as a byproduct of heating heat demand, (present or future) or electricity generation.

Which elements interfered in this concentrations?

The concentrations are influenced by the level of solar radiation and the moisture content of the air, by agronomic question, and the windows position and wind speed, so that their use is optimized.

Climatic Facilities Characteristics: CO2 sensors

Installation requires a CO2 sensor, which typically uses a method to measure air concentration, based on infrared radiation absorption of carbon dioxide, compared to other atmospheric gases that make up air, leaving determination performed by the pressure change that occurs in a sealed chamber after being radiated sample.

A single sensor is usually connected to a battery of electrovalves and with the help of a vacuum pump, a filter and a condensate decanter, allows sampling of the various compartments in which the operation is organized.

Currently the tendency is to have a sensor installed in the housing compartment for measuring temperature and relative humidity, which directly determines the air flow measurement box CO2 concentration.
