New R+D+i project: HUMIDEX - INNTERCONNECTS

Novedades Agrícolas, along with 4 companies in the auxiliary industry of agriculture, are developing a new R + D + i project, and comes to assume an important milestone in the intensive production under plastic, the project has been approved by CEDETI and where the Andalusian Regional Government has supported and has at all times shown great interest in initiatives of this scale.

HUMIDEX.- INNTERCONNECTS is project funded by the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF, within the Technology Fund Operational Programme 2007-2013 Humidex: it takes as a basis the principle of Level Control humidity as a limiting factor for competitiveness, employability and the agro-export capacity cluster . coordinator: NOVEDADES AGRICOLAS S.A.

Members:

AGROBIO
ALMERIPLANT
SEED SYSTEMS HEAT
ALARCONTROL

Research centers:

University of ALMERIA
TECNOVA Fundation

Goals:

The project will involve the development of new technologies within a strategy of collaborative R & D between the consortium members, where researchers would complement efforts to achieve the objectives and shall consist in:

  • Development of a new greenhouse model that integrates the technological developments of the project object
  • Optimize control of humidity and temperature inside the greenhouse by the design of a system that provides a suitable climatic environment.
  • Reducing energy costs through the design of a specific geothermal system. The project makes use of geothermal energy, developing a geothermal heat pump, along with dehumidifiers conveniently distributed in order to reduce moisture and refrigerate calefactar
  • Design of a moving grate that results in maximum utilization of solar radiation-Overcoming the limits of seasonal production, increasing production in winter and in the summer-selection period and evaluation of new species of predators and their production and adequate adaptation to its environment.
  • Development of plant material by tissue culture and micropropagation, and a climate system conditioning purpose.

The project is in an advanced stage and by all consortium members, who are already making significant progress on all developments raised. Its duration is 3 years and the schedule of activities is developed as planned. The prototype is built on Tecnova Experimental Center, and will be subject to rigorous evaluation and analysis by both the Own Foundation, and by the UAL.
