Meshes for Greenhouses

Mesh is a plastic greenhouse, usually of high-density polyethylene with UV treatment, which has various uses in agriculture, within the types of meshes we can find different colours and more or less bushy depending on their use.

Types of nets for greenhouses depending on their use

In general, meshes for greenhouses, could be enclosure, where we find greenhouses entirely covered with this material, such as nethouse greenhouses, or as secondary enclosure greenhouses material, acting as a fix enclosure in the case of the anti-insect net.

Anti-insect nets or anti-trip:

antitrips

The anti-trip meshes, as they have been called, are designed to prevent the leak of beneficial insects when we are using farming systems through biological control.

Depending on the degree of ventilation and the type of insects that we try not to get in, we could use different grid thicknesses, the most widespread of them is 20x10 threads / cm2 and 16x10 threads / cm2. Keep in mind that the smaller is the grid size, the lower would be the intrusion of insects, but also lower the venting capacity.

These meshes can be placed on the perimeter, front vents and even in the zenith, they often act as fixed vents such as zenith ventilation in asymmetric or tropical greenhouses.

Meshes tights or groundcover anti grass

We could use the ground cover nets, anti-grass or meshes inside the greenhouse mainly, to prevent weeds proliferation and keep the floor clean.

In some cases, depending on the color, may have more pronounced properties. Thus, the ones on black confer more heat and the white ones reflect more sunlight. Therefore, depending on the crop cycle or the properties that best suit our needs, one or the other will be used.

Other advantage is its porous material that allows water drainage and prevents ponding and problems arising from these such as the occurrence of fungal type diseases.

Anti-hail Meshes.

Currently the use of mesh to protect tree crops is increasing, protecting these from atmospheric phenomenas such as hail, which can cripple production. Another utility is its function as a windbreak in young plantations, such as the vineyard. They tend to be very similar to the anti-trip meshes, but its grid size is different, the most common are 4x4 and 2.50 x 3.

Shade mesh.

There are different types of shade mesh for greenhouses, and its choice depends, or should be adapted to each type of crop and shading requirements for each phase of development of this. Most meshes are black or aluminized, but we could find in other colours, for example in green.

Shade mesh, along with ventilation are a very effective weapon to reduce the temperature inside greenhouses, while favouring plant transpiration.
